Franklin vs. East Nashville
Franklin vs. East Nashville

Reese Glover's late 3-pointer coupled with Connor Beavon's block on East Nashville's final possession lifted the Franklin boys' basketball team to a season-opening 71-68 win Tuesday night at Franklin High School. Glover poured in a game-best 24 points and his sixth 3-pointer of the night with 3.8 seconds to play lifted the Rebels in front for good. Jordan Bruce added 21 points – hitting 7-of-13 from 3-point range – while Beavon came off the bench and contributed a late triple and two blocks. "This is how you want to start a season," Franklin coach Darrin Joines said. "It was just like when we played in their house last year. There were a lot of fluctuations. We go up, they go up, back and forth. But we pulled this one out. "It was a fun game and you want tough games like this, it only makes you better as the season goes along." The Eagles held off Franklin 79-72 in overtime to open the season last year. East Nashville went on to win 29 more games, while the Rebels closed a win away from their first state berth in 29 years.
