Franklin will face Nolensville and East Nashville takes on Rossview Friday in the girls semifinals of the Middle Tennessee Invitational Tournament at Franklin High School. The four teams all won their opening games on Thursday.
Franklin 51 Cane Ridge 35
It was not a game Franklin head coach John Wild will want to remember, other than the win, based on his sideline demeanor. But win the Lady Rebels did, stopping Cane Ridge 51-35. The youth movement had to sustain Franklin, as Sydney Ryan contributed 20 points and Kate O'Niel added another 19, more than 76% of the team's offense. Cane Ridge was led by Geneva Vann and Taylor Allen who scored 8 points each. Franklin will now face Nolensville in the second girls semi-final on Friday at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Nolensville 39 Father Ryan 30
It wasn't pretty, but the Lady Knights of Nolensville earned a spot in the semi-finals of the Middle Tennessee Invitational Tournament at Franklin with a 39-30 win over Father Ryan. Nolensville held Ryan scoreless for ten minutes, owning a 23-8 lead at the half. The second half was more of the same, with more bodies hitting the floor than shots being taken. The win gives Nolensville a spot in the second girls' semi-final game at 5:30 p.m. Friday afternoon against host Franklin.

East 55 Beech 49
For the second time this season, East Nashville's top ranked Class AA girls knocked off Class AAA Beech, this time 55-49 in the opening round of the Middle Tennessee Invitational Tournament at Franklin. "It was a tough game to open with after Christmas," said East coach Lois Donaldson. "It was high energy on both sides and I'm glad it came out in our favor." The Lady Eagles never trailed by more than a basket, but they also didn't stretch their lead to more than a two-possession game until the final two minutes. Quentarra Mitchell led East Nashville with 14 point and Jaelyn Knox chipped in 11. For the Lady Bucs, Jana Claire Swafford took scoring honors with 15 while Deshiya Hoosier had 13. East Nashville will face Rossview in a semi-final match up at 4 p.m. Saturday while Beech will play Forrest in the consolation bracket at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Rossview's girls used a tenacious defense and Forrest struggled to hit open shots as the Lady Hawks opened the Middle Tennessee Invitational Tourney at Franklin with a 57-43 victory. Kayla Gilmore led Rossview with 15, nine of those in the first quarter, and Emma Mason added 13. Carrisa Curtis had the hot hand for Forrest with 14.
